Calling all Hairdressers.....is toner and pearl the same thing for the Goldwell line?

I get a cellophane/clear gloss put on my hair after I get it highlighted. I had a hairdresser before who said she used pearl in this gloss.......then I told another hairdresser and she said she was using half clear and "half pearl".....like 50/50...but I think she meant toner (as it was purple)....but I was under the impression that pearl was a third element....that made my blond hair kind of a creamy color...that I dont' get with JUST the toner and glaze. So, I'd like to ask those who are inpartial....the line is Goldwell...does anybody know what I'm talking about? Help?
