Putting alcohol in my son's bag?

My son and I are going to California for a while... We live in Oregon... Having gone to visit relatives before, I now know the importance of having Oregon wine and local spirits as opposed to popular stuff... In accordance to TSA one can only bring 5 liters of alcohol under 70%. However, I wanted to bring a few bottles as gifts for a total of 7, can I put 2 or 3 in my son's bag? Will I have to declare it at the check in counter, and if so, what shall I say to the airline employee? Or Should I just say nothing at all?
