Hi fellow seniors, do you have issues when opening containers?

I have a handy jar opener that works well. I keep a pair of scissors on a hook in the kitchen for those pesky cellophane packages. Most of the cans here in Italy are of the flip top variety and are usually not a problem. But, just last week I got 2 cans of cat food on which the flip top broke off. The can opener would not work because the lid was Too deep. I had to resort to a hammer, screwdriver and a pair of pliers to get them open! It took a few minutes, but I can't afford to waste anything.
