Is it illegal to lie about paying someone back if they do you a favor?

my girlfriend, is in jail and i have no money to bail her out, but i told her boss that if she helps paying to bail her out i'll pay her back as soon as my girlfriend gets out... is it illegal to lie to her about paying her back?
